About
Lucy Rose Murphy MA, BMus(Hons) completed her MA in Music Education and Performance at Trinity Laban under the pianist Sergio Simone in 2019 after graduating from her BMus in classical piano there under Elena Riu in 2017. Her time studying at Trinity Laban stimulated her passion for music further and greatly developed her skills as both a performer, accompanist and educator.

Lucy has participated in masterclasses with renowned pianists Pascal Roge and Alexander Ardakov and has performed in various festivals and competitions. She was awarded First Prize at the Ealing Music Festival in 2014, as well as gaining a Commendation at the Beethoven Sonata Festival at the ORNC in 2015. Further successes include being a finalist at the Essex Young Musician of the Year competition (2017), The French Song Competition, The AESS Competition and The English Song Competition (2018).
In March 2018, her duo ‘Sirens’ with soprano Juliette Koch performed at the Debussy Festival at the ORNC as well as being invited to open Jonathan Dove’s 60th birthday concert in March 2019. Lucy was filmed by Classic FM in 2017 and 2018 both as a soloist and with her duo ‘Sirens’ and was selected to be the repetiteur and orchestral pianist for Trinity Laban’s Summer Opera ‘The Rape of Lucretia’ by Britten which premiered in Stratford Circus in July 2018. An experienced accompanist, Lucy regularly accompanies other instrumentalists for recitals, exams and competitions. Lucy also performs with the Symphonica Orchestra, a 26 piece orchestra which tours across the UK and Europe.

Now based in Peterborough, Lucy has been appointed in January 2024 as Musician in Residence for the David Lloyd Education Trust and in September 2024 started at The Peterborough School as Teacher of Music. She continues to tutor private piano and music theory lessons alongside her other duties.

TUTORING





Lucy Rose Murphy MA, BMus(Hons) completed her MAMEP in 2019 and has had great success as a piano teacher and music educator for over 15 years.
​
Alongside her Masters qualification, she undertook an IVT Teaching Core course at Trinity Laban Conservatoire and has had various opportunities delivering music workshops in schools around London as well as being a regular accompanist for ABRSM exams. Lucy has her grade 8 in piano, grade 8 in Music Theory and holds an up to date DBS. She also regularly attends CPD and SEND courses to stay up to date with teaching styles and student needs.
In 2018, Lucy began teaching at The Conservatoire in Blackheath delivering music theory, individual and group Early Years piano classes alongside teaching the piano the UAI, an all girls school in Ilford.
In 2021, Lucy was granted a position as a peripatetic piano teacher with the Bromley Youth Music Trust and enjoyed working in both Primary and Secondary Schools throughout Bromley.

Most recently in 2024 Lucy was appointed the roles of Musician in Residence for DRET Music and Teacher of Music at the Peterborough School.
During private piano lessons (either in person or online), Lucy works on musicality, sight reading, technique, posture and improvisation and strives for her students to develop logical and imaginative interpretations to the music in order to prepare them for concerts, festivals and exams etc. Lucy has a very open-minded approach to teaching and encourages a fun and inclusive approach to music making.

As well as piano lessons, Lucy offers online music theory lessons both individually and in groups
(dependant on grade).
​
Along with her experience in the field, her time studying Music and Education during her Masters degree further enhanced her teaching skillset.​
